TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETING

WEDNESDAY, June 4, 2008

Voting Members Present: Peter Schuster, Chris Gluck, Don Spencer, Graham Kenneweg, Ken Martis, Dennis Bidwell, Paul Steel, Betty McClain, Roy Nutter, Tony Barill

Non-Voting Members Present: Terry Hough, Lt. Mike Lantz

Members Absent: Dave Purkey

MATTER OF BUSINESS:

Meeting was called to order by Chairman Roy Nutter.

Minutes from May 2008 meeting not approved.

BICYCLE BOARD:

No report from Bicycle Board

Pedestrian Safety Board:

Handout was given by Becka reporting on Pedestrian Safety Board Activity.

Traffic Calming Sub-Committee:

Don Spencer moved that Traffic Calming plan proposed for Suncrest area be finalized by TCC and be moved to the COW on June 24, 2008. Paul Steel Seconded the Motion.

Don Spencer withdrew motion, Paul Steel agrees.

Chris Gluck moved to approve Preliminary plan for dependent upon meeting with Engineering to determine a schedule for a presentation to City Council. Paul Steel Seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Terry read monthly updates.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Willowdale Rd – Being reviewed by Dr. Ron Eck

Vanguilder – Terry reviewed map of proposed yellow line. Dennis Bidwell moved to approve plans to paint yellow lines as approved by Engineering Department. Chris Gluck seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Narrow Streets – Dave Fetty spoke as representative for City of Morgantown Fire Department. He described the trucks and the problems faced due to the narrow roads. The changes in the trucks over the years are what has caused this problem, the roads were not made for such large vehicles. A Twenty foot width is needed to get through any street.

Dennis Bidwell moved to table until next meeting in order to gather more information. Peter Schuster seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:

Richmond Ave – Joe Donavan, 91 Grandview Ave, explained problem.

Paul Steel moved that yellow line be painted on both sides of Richmond Ave. Dennis seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Euclid and Cedar – Peter Schuster moved to table item until next meeting. Paul Steel seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously

Cedar and Wilson – Peter Schuster moved to table item until next meeting. Paul Steel seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously.
