TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETING

WEDNESDAY, April 1,2009

 

Voting Members Present: Don Spencer, Graham Kenneweg, Paul Steel, Roy Nutter, Chris Cluck, Tony Barill

 

Non-Voting Members Present: Lt. Mike Lantz, Damien Davis, Terry Hough

 

Members Absent: Peter Schuster, Betty McClain, Dennis Bidwell, Ken Martis

 

MATTER OF BUSINESS:

Roy Nutter Called to order 6:35

Paul Steel moved to approve minutes as amended.  Tony Barill seconded motion. Minutes were approved.

 

BICYCLE BOARD:

Frank Gmeindl gave report for Bicycle Board.  There were two recommendations for appointments to the Bicycle Board, Janelle Bedard and Chet Parsons.   Don Spencer moved to appoint Janelle and Chet to the Bicycle Board. Tony Barill seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Pedestrian Safety Board:

Don Spencer gave Pedestrian Safety Board Report. 

 

Traffic Calming Sub-Committee:

 

Roy Nutter read Email from Dennis Bidwell regarding traffic issues in Greenmont Neighborhood.  Issues were placed on the May 2009 Traffic Commission Agenda.

 

Roy Nutter reviewed the Wiles Hill Traffic Calming recommendations as submitted by Neighborhood association.  Don Spencer moved to place map provided by Neighborhood Association in Traffic Calming Plan. Tony Barill seconded motion. Motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:

Laurel Street and Junior Avenue Speed Humps:  Chris Gluck gave results of survey conducted with residents on Laurel Street.  Those results were seventeen against having the speed humps put in, sixteen would like to have speed humps, and three people who would like to look for alternatives. 

Discussion ensued.

 

COMMISSION COMMENTS:

Paul Steel stated that if the residents on Junior and Laurel did not want the money for Traffic Calming the residents in Southpark would take it.

 

Don Spencer spoke on placing a “Please be Courteous” sign at the point of merging on Beechurst Ave again.
