TRAFFIC COMMISSION MEETING

WEDNESDAY, July 7, 2010

 

Voting Members Present: Don Spencer, Paul Steel, Roy Nutter, Chris Gluck, Ken Martis, Andrea Soccorsi

 

Non-Voting Members Present:  Damien Davis, Lt. Mike Lantz, Frank Gmeindl, Christiaan Abildso

 

Members Absent: Peter Schuster, Graham Kenneweg, Betty McClain, Tony Barill

 

MATTER OF BUSINESS:

Mr. Roy Nutter called meeting to order 6:37 pm.  

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

David, 295 High Street, voiced concern for Intersection of Fayette, Beechurst, and University.

 

Kurt Jarvis, Brook Avenue, Voiced his concern for drivers in the winter on Doyle Street and Listravia Avenue. 

 

MEETING MINUTES

Commission reviewed minutes from the June meeting.  Minutes were approved with change to location of Roy Nutter’s name to be in the “Voting Members” section.

 

BICYCLE BOARD:

Frank Gmeindl reports on Bicycle Board’s progress on education, parking, websites, and advertising. Discussion ensued.

 

PEDESTRIAN SAFETY BOARD:

Christiaan Abildso outlines the changes made to the Pedestrian Safety Plan.  Paul Steel moved to approve changes to the Pedestrian Safety Plan.  Andrea Soccorsi seconded the motion.  Motion passed unanimously. 

     

TRAFFIC CALMING SUB-COMMITTEE:

No Report

 

MONTHLY UPDATES:

Damien Davis reviewed the Monthly Updates

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Traffic Calming on Eastern Ave:  Engineering reported that Eastern Avenue is too steep to use speed humps.

Campus Connector: No news was reported.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Western Ave: Traffic Commission members asked Engineering to look at the parking situation and come up with a plan to present to Traffic Commission at next meeting.

 

Listravia Ave:  Traffic Commission members asked Engineering to look at the situation and come up with a recommendation to present to Traffic Commission at next meeting.
