Meeting Minutes
Present: Pam Ball, Darryl DeGripp, Larry Sypolt,
Virginia Evans, Christie Venham,
Old Business:
Don Knotts Exhibit: Pam acquired
the telephone numbers of 2 individuals that own artifacts relating to Don
Knotts and will contact them to see if they are willing to loan some of these
objects to the museum for the exhibit.
There was some discussion of the Dominion Post article about the Don
Knotts statue controversy in
Music and the Met Exhibit: It was
decided to move the date for this exhibit to Oct. 7, due to time constraints
with the Don Knotts exhibit. It was
generally agreed that we could have some of the small 8 oz. bottles of Coke,
popcorn from the
Fundraiser Coloring Book:
Model House from General Woodworking: Rick reported that delivery of the house will depend on availability of a truck and personnel at Preferred Surfaces.
Darryl instructed Lora on proper cleaning procedures for the artifacts on hand.
New Business:
Pam met with AIE personnel regarding preliminary discussions of some sort of collaboration for a project involving the area schools.
A local law firm has donated a computer, printer, and software for the museum. No internet service has been available for the last 2 weeks, however.
Election of Officers: Christie
Venham was elected to the position of Co-Chair, Virginia Evans was elected as
Treasurer, and Rick McEwuen was elected as secretary. Lora will be providing
A $250 donation has been received from the Wal-Mart Foundation (on Aug. 8th).
A trip to visit the
