SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 8, 2010:

The special meeting of the Common Council of the City of Morgantown was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 5:00 p.m.

PRESENT:

Mayor Bill Byrne, City Manager Dan Boroff, City Clerk Linda Little, and Council Members Ron Bane, John Gaddis, Charlie Byrer, Jenny Selin, Marti Shamberger and Don Spencer.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Byrne.

NEW BUSINESS:

PERSONNEL MATTERS:

Mayor Byrne presented to Council various documents to help with the process of hiring the new City Manager: ICMA Handbook; City Charter; ICMA Hiring Process for City Manager; City Managers Evaluation Form and a Format for City Manager Profile. Mayor Byrne commented that with all these resources to review this should help us move forward. Mayor Byrne stated that this evening Council should come up with a time table, a process and then decide who is going to be Interim City Manager if the City Manager is not selected by October 1, 2010.

After discussion, Council requested the City Clerk to check on getting information for Council about Executive Search Firms to do the search for the new City Manager. Councilmember’s Selin, Byrer, Spencer and Mayor Byrne will work on a City Manager Ad to present to the firm that is selected by Council.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Motion by Spencer, second by Shamberger, to go into an executive session pursuant to Section 6-9A-4-2 of the West Virginia Code in order to discuss personnel matters with the following persons present: Mayor Bill Byrne and Council Members. Time 5:30 p.m.

ADJOURNMENT:

There being no further business, Council immediately adjourned. Time 6:09 p.m.
