1995 & 1996 Small Cities Block Grantsused to develop the Hazel Ruby McQuain Park, Bus Depot, and remove the Armory Building are being closed. All available funds have been expended.
1997 Appalachian Regional Commission Grant used to develop Hurley Street in the Wharf District is 91% finished. Close out of that grant will be soon.
Newly Funded Grants - $950,0001999 TEA-21 Grant $700,000
A contract was signed with Greenhorne & O'Mara, Inc. to begin the survey and design work for the sidewalks and bridge to be installed in various areas of the City. Construction will include a pedestrian bridge and sidewalk in Marilla Park and sidewalks along Mississippi Street, Laurel Street, Patteson Drive, and Burroughs Street.
2000 TEA-21 Grant $250,000
The City is waiting on the notice to proceed from the WVDOT. Selection of designers/contractors will be the next step by the City. The grant will include the construction of safety fences and gravel berm along the Caperton and Deckers Creek Trail to create a safer environment for walking and biking. The grant will also include additional sidewalks in Marilla Park, in addition to the 1999 Grant, and pedestrian crosswalks within the Park.

The City is applying for $800,000 for a pedestrian sidewalk and bike trail along Mon. Boulevard between 8th Street and the Star City Limits and the second phase of the Wharf District landscaping project. It will include additional site improvements in the District such as streetscape improvements, sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, signage, and site furniture.
2001 Recreational Trails Program Grant Application $100,000
The grant application will include phase III of the White Park trail expansion.

Morgantown Business and Professional Women $ 2,500
The "Choices" program allows members to develop personal relationships with young girls, especially girls at risk of dropping out of school, and share the importance of their educational choices.
Morgantown Theatre Company $10,000
The grant will support the Afternoon Theatre Enrichment Program which involves children ages 6-18 in the production of theatre arts. Students will learn theatre through acting, dancing, and singing.

Metropolitan Theatre Preservation Foundation $90,000
The grant will be used to renovate the interior of the 1924 facility. Renovations may include the sprinkler system, upgrade the plumbing, and/or other interior renovations important to pass code inspections.
Ruby Memorial Hospital-Rosenbaum Family House $25,000
The grant will purchase additions to the Family Hospital.
State Retiree Attraction Community $10,000
This program will promote the Morgantown area as a destination for retirees and native West Virginians to relocate because of a great quality of life.
