Online Accessibility Request
City of Morgantown is updating its Accessibility Plan for 2005
City of Morgantown invites and encourages any citizens willing to volunteer their
time and efforts, in joining the new Accessibility Evaluation Committee. The
Committee will review the previous City of Morgantown ADA Compliance Manual/
Transition Plan and will help make recommendations for updating these plans.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law by President
Bush on July 26, 1990 and provides comprehensive civil rights protection to
qualified individuals with disabilities in the areas of employment, public
accommodations, state and local government services and telecommunications.
Title II of the ADA refers specific to State and local governments to make
their programs, services, and facilities accessible to persons with disabilities.
People with a disability or an impairment are encouraged to join the ADA Committee
or give their suggestions and input to the City of Morgantown during this update
process by filling out an online accessibility survey.
The Accessibility Committee will be composed of two
subcommittees - one will evaluate facilities accessibility and communication,
and the other will be evaluating the City of Morgantown policies, programs
and services. Each volunteer will be asked to join a subcommittee.
The City of Morgantown Accessibility Evaluation Committee will start meeting beginning with August 1, 2005 in the
City Council Chamber at the City Hall, 389 Spruce Street, Morgantown at 10:00
a.m.
If you want to join the Committee or find more information about what
the Accessibility Committee will do, or if you require any special accommodations
please contact Jeff Mikorski, Accessibility Coordinator at: 304-284-7404.
Let the City of Morgantown, know how to help. Together we can make a difference.
